Alexander House
ALEXANDER HOUSE
A steep topography and an axis through the site, connecting Mount Wellington to Wrest Point Casino, inform the general arrangement of Alexander House.
The subterranean basement houses the garage, workshop, laundry/utility space and guest bedrooms, allowing the first-floor arrangement to be offered up to communal living along the site axis.
This proposition enables shared spaces to be connected to views of the River Derwent Estuary in one direction and to Mount Wellington in the other.
Due to the extreme topography, part of the proposition is subterranean in nature, which allows for a continuous flow for access of pedestrians from street level to the level one open-plan living space.
“DO ARCHITECTURE Studio was the catalyst for creating a vision that symbolised our intent for The Art Factory concept.”
